I have experience working with children aged 3 and up. However, for tutoring services, I typically support elementary through college or university-level students.
While I deeply respect and value learners with special needs, I want to be transparent that I don’t have formal training in special education. I recognize this is distinct from working with neurodiverse learners, with whom I have more direct experience and success.
Similarly, while math isn’t my area of expertise, I collaborate with a network of trusted educators who share my values and teaching philosophy. I’d be happy to recommend someone well-suited to support your child’s specific needs.
Our first meeting will take place in your home, where we’ll have a relaxed and open conversation about your hopes and concerns for your child. You’re welcome to ask me anything—I’ll provide honest answers about my approach, experience, and offer any early insights that might be helpful.
Depending on everyone’s comfort level, I’ll also spend part of the session connecting with your child or loved one through something they enjoy—whether it’s a hobby, a special interest, or simply giving them the chance to ask me questions about who I am and why I’m there. This helps me get a better sense of what brings them joy, what motivates them, and how I can best support their unique needs. It also begins building a positive relationship right away, which is a key ingredient in making meaningful progress.
In many cases, I can jump right in and start working with your child after an informal phone call about expectations and known challenges—no trial session is needed unless you would prefer it. That said, for more complex or sensitive situations, a trial session beforehand can really help set us up for success. Ultimately you know your child best, I'll follow your lead.
As a certified educator, I bring warmth, patience, and professionalism to every session—but my connection with students goes far beyond academics. With a diverse background and a wide range of life experiences, including roles outside of the classroom, I’ve gained a deep understanding of how the world works. I use this perspective to make real-life connections to academic concepts, and I’m not afraid to share personal stories—even the tough ones—when they can turn into meaningful learning moments. I’ve been through challenges, and I speak openly about them in a way that’s appropriate and thoughtful. This honesty makes the learning experience more impactful and, at times, even poignant. I see each student as a whole person. I build trust through honesty and compassion, and from that foundation, I’m able to offer something beyond academic support: mentorship.
It means being a steady, supportive presence—someone kids of all ages and stages can count on to help them work through not only schoolwork, but also the everyday challenges that come with growing up. Whether it’s building confidence, learning how to problem-solve, or navigating tough emotions, I’m here to guide, encourage, and empower my young learners-even young adults. I don’t just want them to succeed in school—I want them to thrive in life.
While this may be a tutoring business on paper, to me, it’s about much more than that. My approach is rooted in seeing each student through a whole-person lens—not just as a learner, but as an individual with their own story, strengths, and challenges. It’s not a typical teacher-to-student relationship; it’s something deeper, more lasting, and truly supportive.
That’s why I’ve introduced a lower rate for follow-up chats with familiar families who need thoughtful, experienced, and honest advice during challenging moments—even if it’s been years since our last session. I’m always happy to reconnect and continue supporting the journey.
To help ensure the reliability of our sessions, a non-refundable deposit is required. This helps minimize last-minute cancellations, supports mutual commitment, and allows me to reserve time exclusively for you, which can be difficult to rebook on short notice.
